Mahfud MD, calon wakil presiden nomor urut 3, mengungkapkan ketidakresahannya terhadap hasil survei elektabilitas pasangan calon presiden dan wakil presiden yang beredar saat ini.
“I’m not worried at all. I just see people getting worried. But I’m not. We’ll see later,” said Mahfud after visiting Bung Hatta’s Tomb at Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/1/2024).
He emphasized that the real victory of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be proven on the day of the presidential election on February 14, 2024.
According to him, the current survey results are all just assumptions.
“The real proof will be on February 14, everyone’s quiet now,” he said.
Mahfud also emphasized that together with Ganjar Pranowo, they never think about survey results. This is because of their experience in the 2018 Presidential Election, where all surveys projected Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin’s defeat.
Even the survey results indicated that Jokowi-Ma’ruf’s electability tended to stagnate until the end. However, this result contradicted the fact that Jokowi-Maruf managed to defeat Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno.
“In 2019, all the surveys were wrong. Their response to being wrong is ‘that was a picture of that day, today is different’,” said Mahfud MD.
Therefore, he does not trust any of the current presidential and vice-presidential survey results. “I never trust surveys,” he added.
