Akar Rumput Strategic Consulting (ARSC) political observer Dimas Oky Nugroho recently discussed the defeat of Jakarta’s gubernatorial candidate pair Ridwan Kamil – Suswono in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. If the quick count results from several survey institutions align with the official announcement from the General Election Commission (KPU) declaring Pramono Anung-Rano Karno as the winners over Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, it is possible that the Prabowo-Gibran administration will consider Ridwan Kamil’s prospects as a technocrat who truly has the potential to provide his best work for Indonesia in the future. “Aside from being a governor, he (Ridwan Kamil) is still qualified to be in the government,” stated Dimas Oky Nugroho in a statement released on Friday (29/11/2024). Furthermore, if these results hold true, Dimas Oky Nugroho suggested that there should be a wisdom from all political forces to gracefully accept that Pramono Anung and Rano Karno emerged as the winners in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. “We hope that Ridwan Kamil, Suswono, and their supporters can gracefully accept the political reality, and acknowledge that figures like Ridwan Kamil undoubtedly have great potential to contribute to the country,” he explained. He emphasized the need for a collective awareness to move on, take action, and close this chapter of the Jakarta gubernatorial election. “I believe this is an extraordinary act of greatness and statesmanship for all parties involved. The focus now should be on planning the steps moving forward,” he concluded.
